Laughter + Creation = Success

How do you define success?

By Bre Russell

By now, we’ve realized that success is not all about wealth and money.

Today, I went for a hike in the Marin hills - the views were vast and beautiful. The vastness makes me feel expansive and whole. The birds, butterflies, squirrels remind me to be playful. The sunshine and silence are healing. I’m pretty high up and the height reminds me of how far I’ve come internally and externally as a person, and to keep climbing but to always stop and enjoy the view- the view of success.

Success for me is daily laughter and creation. It’s that simple.

If I’m not laughing, then I’m not happy and I’m not reaching that state of pure bliss- ya know- the kind of laughter that makes you cry and your stomach hurt- oh how much I love that kind of laughter. I crave it and seek it out as much as possible because it is truly one of those moments of pure joy, bliss, aliveness, and flow for me. I laugh with my full heart and love finding other people that do the same.

Many of the people closest to me say I laugh at my own jokes- and hey why not?

Laughter is like a song from my soul.

When I hear others laughing I immediately am drawn to them and want to laugh too- its contagious and fun.

As kids we would laugh often and freely- the world was our playground after all.

If I’m not creating- I’m not growing, or learning or expanding. Boredom can easily turn into depression- so creating daily regardless if its creating a new dish for dinner, writing in my journal, singing, dancing, thinking of new business ideas, playing in some way- these fuel my sense of being.

If you could define success for you in just one to three words what would those words be?

How do you decide if your day has been successful or not?

And when did you last laugh with your full heart? Maybe this photo of a pug in a jean jacket will help.
